Writing Excuses 8.14: Brainstorming with Brandon
From http://www.writingexcuses.com/2013/04/07/writing-excuses-8-14-brainstorming-with-brandon/
Key Points: Don't be afraid to write a story about something that others have written about. How long a story do you want to write? What perspective do you want to write from? Puzzles, characters, resolutions can help set the story. Also consider big story, are there other elements to mix in? Beware of endings that simply raise bigger questions. To write a short story, keep the POVs and characters limited. Make it small and personal. Do consider what others have written in this area, and think about how to make your story original. Keep track of your concept, your premise! Look at how the environment can be misused or manipulated. Figure out who has the most at stake.
( Out of the frying pan... )
[Dan] The writing prompt for the listeners is to come up with a better resolution to this story than we have.
[Brandon] All right. This has been Writing Excuses. You're out of excuses, now go write.
